Background:

Founded in 1837, this is a small village school in a rural setting, which enjoys strong church and community links. It is organised into mixed age and ability classes. The school teaches the National Curriculum and, although it has no indoor sports facilties, it offers games and athletics on its field, and dance and drama in classrooms and at All Saints Parish Rooms. Junior children swim once a week in Strode Pool. Teams from the school take part in football, athletics and swimming matches, tournaments and meetings with other schools. It offers a range of extra-curricular activities which include football, orchestra, guitar and recorder. It stages concerts at Christmas and the end of the school year, as well as participating in events in Bristol such as the schools' concert at Colston Hall and the Cathedral Carol Service. There are days out to places of local interest and the children are raise funds for local and national charities. Children in Years 5 and 6 have the opportunity to take part in activity breaks and a field study week to venues such as York and the Isle of Wight.
