Background:
Chilton Trinity is an 11-16 LEA community comprehensive school and a specialist technology college, which serves both Bridgwater and the surrounding rural areas. Since it opened in 1966, it has expanded steadily. Set in 14 acres of greenfield site to the northwest side of town, it enjoys the benefits of an open, attractive campus. Through additional government funding and creative self-help schemes, the school has recently been able to provide ICT suites in departmental areas, a curriculum enrichment centre, opened in 2003, up-graded changing facilities as part of its successful Sport England bid, refurbished science laboratories, design and technology areas and a fourth ICT suite, interactive whiteboard technology in many classrooms, specialist disabled provision including ramped access points and a lift in the main teaching block, a floodlit artificial turf pitch and a new eight classroom block. The school aims to enrich its subject curriculum with an extensive range of activities in drama, music and physical education. Its sports facilities include gym, fields, all weather sports pitch and a sports hall.
