Background:
Formerly City of Bath Girls' Grammar, this school became an 11-18 girls' comprehensive in the mid-1970s. It occupies three attractive sites close to the centre of Bath. The Upper School stands in landscaped grounds in Oldfield Park, opposite the double-fronted Edwardian house that serves as a sixth-form centre. The Lower School is housed in a bright, well-maintained building closer to the town centre. A purpose-built drama studio has recently been created. The school has earned a reputation for its achievements in music, represented by two orchestras, wind bands, recorder groups, string groups and choirs. Sport is also very strong; GCSE and A-level Physical Education are available. A large number of girls take science at A-level, and there is a choice of two out of three modern languages for all pupils. 'We are committed to promoting the achievements of all girls to the limits of their ability in the context of a calm, controlled and purposeful atmosphere and equal opportunity for all'. Specialist technology college status. Investor in People status.
