Background:
Backwell School was founded in 1862 by the Church of England. The school has a 'variety' of buildings situated on a 'pleasant' rural site. Facilities include pottery rooms, a 'large' library, an Information Communication Technology suite, a hall and kitchen. Extra-curricular activities take place at lunchtime and after school, they include art, chess, choir, drama, netball, football, French, nature and Italian. The school has a 'very strong' sporting record and wins trophies for cricket, rounders, football and swimming. Baackwell School aims to 'create a happy, caring and co-operative school community.
