Background:
Countess Gytha Primary School was founded in the small rural village of Queen Camel in 1872, the school draws its pupils from a wide area, including Queen Camel and nearly 20 other villages and hamlets. Four buildings have been added to the original schoolhouse, and the grounds include a large tarmac playground and a heated outdoor swimming pool. A playing field close to the school is shared with the community. The very broad, balanced curriculum includes a very strong information and communications technology (ICT) programme. The school provides wide range of activities, which includes football, netball, hockey, swimming and running clubs, art, music, athletics, rugby, swimming, french, tennis. The schools aims to provide a safe, caring, happy and well-organised learning environment.
