Background:

Creech St Michael Primary School was founded in 1873 and moved to its present location in a 'quiet area' of the village in 1971. It has 'well maintained' field and hardcourt play areas. The latest addition, a new reception classroom will allow the school to offer classes well below the government's recommended limit of 30 pupils in Key Stage 1. Another recent development is the installation of a 17 station PC network with internet access, which was made possible by the support of parents and governers. Staff run extra-curricular activities ranging from the traditional sports through to chess and drawing. The school also provides an after-school club throughout the week and during holidays. The school has close links with the local community and church and hosted the local flower show in 1999. Each year the pupils choose a different charity to support. In 1999, the Red Cross saw the benefits of this system. 'It is the intention of the school that every child should be enabled to realise his or her full potential from the start to the end - Reception to Year 6'.
