Background:
Set in very rural surroundings, Lydeard St Lawrence was founded in 1876, initially as a Church school. There is an original sandstone building for Class 3 and three temporary huts for Classes 1 and 2, and the playgroup. The two playing fields comprise approximately two acres, there is one large playground, two smaller playgrounds, an open air swimming pool, an adventure playground and a walled garden environment. The school has charity involvement and supports an activity centre on Exmoor. The school aims to provide a caring environment wherein each child can attain its full potential.
