Background:
Founded in 1956, the school occupies an extensive, semi-rural site in Portishead, nine miles west of Bristol. Facilities include an attached sports centre, Astroturf pitch, art, music and drama studios, nine specialist computer rooms and has recently benefited from a £9 million extension, including a state of art learning centre. The school is federated with six of the other local schools and leads on e-learning and information and communication technology. Leading Edge and Training School Status record academic results this year. 27 AS/A2 subjects offered in the sixth form, many of which are available in key stage four. The school has a strong, caring and supportive house system. The school aims to provide a rich and stimulating learning environment and a curriculum that meets the needs of all its learners.
