Opened in 1989 on site of original Victorian school; located in beautiful rural setting in centre of village; extensive grounds, with playground, playing field, adventure playground, and nature area with pond. Well-equipped hall, ICT suite, group rooms, three classrooms; three mobile classrooms in grounds. All subjects covered, with particular strengths in numeracy, literacy, science, design and technology, and foundation stage. Developing more sporting and artistic projects; working with other schools to provide training support. Instrumental tuition arranged and after-school clubs include football, netball and country dancing. Outdoor pursuits on Exmoor every year for older children; environmental aspect strongly developed. Pupils raise funds for local charities and for global causes when appropriate. Links with nearby St Andrew's Church; receives 'great parental support'. Healthy school award; Beacon status (2000); DfES achievement awards (2001, 2002).
