Background:
Wells Central C of E Junior School is a Church of England School, which was first established by the Diocese of Bath and Wells in the early 1800s. The school has strong connections with St. Cuthbert's Parish Church and Wells Cathedral. The school moved from its old site in town to its present location in 1977. The school is well equipped for art, information and communication technology, science, music and drama, design and technology, and physical education. The hall is used for indoor games sessions and has its own theatre for drama productions. There is a newly refurbished and extensive library and a computer suite of 28 PCs, installed in the summer of 2002, making use of the latest technology, including interactive whiteboards. Each child has access to the suite every week, as well as being able to use computers in their classrooms. The school has a Christian ethos. It believes that children do best when secure, enthusiastic and challenged.
