Background:
Winscombe School is set in its own grounds, on the edge of the village, where it enjoys extensive views across open fields to wooded areas and to the distant slopes of the Mendip Hills. The school'serves children from 4-11 years of age and is a community school. This building was opened in 1971 and was extensively re-modelled and extended in 2001. It now consists of seven classrooms, a computer suite, a cookery room and a library. There is much enthusiasm for musical activities within the school. Extra-curricular activities are organised at school by staff and parents. These activities may include football, orchestra and various other music experiences, country dancing, netball, dance and chess. A wide variety of clubs and activities are available within the village of Winscombe. The school is a happy, caring and stimulating environment in which every child is eager to learn.
