Background:

Wrington CofE Primary School has served the community of Wrington for over 140 years including several generations of many families. The main Victorian building houses three classrooms, a library, a hall, a kitchen servery and toilets. In addition there are four temporary classrooms on the playground and fields. The old school house is now used for offices, the staffroom and the pottery room. In recent years, expansion of the residential capacity of the village has led to the school's own expansion but the 'family atmosphere' has not been lost. The ethos of the school 'is that of the family', and parents are encouraged to come into school and work with children and teachers. The village has a strong community spirit and the school tries to participate in this as much as possible. Staff and parents run extra-curricular activities including country dancing, orchestra, recorders, football, netball and environmental clubs. Wrington CofE Primary aims to be 'a friendly, happy place where people work and play together with a sense of security and belonging and where people, their views and their property are respected'. It is oversubscribed in five of the seven years.
