Background:
The village of Tickenham can be found between Clevedon and Nailsea, approximately 10 miles from Bristol. The school was founded in 1851, using the village tithe barn. The buildings have since been modernised and extended, now housing four classrooms. The playground area has recently been extended to include an adventure playground and a school field. The school and the village work 'very closely' together and there is a 'strong' community spirit. The school has links with other schools in France, Italy and the Czech Republic. Many children play a musical instrument to a 'high standard,' there are opportunities for children to learn guitar, recorder (tenor and treble), brass and woodwind instruments. Sporting activities on offer include football, rounders, cricket and athletics. The children raise funds to support a child in Kenya and organise fund-raising events for a variety of charities.
